This week I had a very sweet surprise arrive on my doorstep. Do you remember a few months ago when my sister sent me the most amazing macarons from Pavillon Ledoyen? (I still dream of those fluffy little delectables). Well recently Pavillon Ledoyen contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their champagne truffles. Is this real life? I quickly agreed but didn’t hold my breath, I thought it was too good to be true. So when a carefully packaged gold box arrived I had to pinch myself. Yes, this is real life and yes, those truffles are all for me.
The truffles arrived in a delicate gold box which boldly stated, “Bonjour, perfection est arrivé.”
After carefully opening the package I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was not just a few truffles but in fact a couple dozen waiting patiently inside.
The truffles made me feel so luxurious like I should go put on my pearls while in their presence. After the first bite I realized the flavor combination is very complex, you have to let it linger on your tongue to really capture all of its components. The outer layer is dusted with a bitter cocoa powder which is quickly balanced out by the silky sweet center. The bubbly champagne creeps up soon after greeting your taste buds with its seductive brunette friend, chocolate.
Truffles are one of those desserts that, when done right, are so rich that you should be satisfied after just one or two. This just means you get to prolong your enjoyment for a few days.
These truffles would go perfectly with a glass of champagne but I opted for a nice mug of café which actually worked out quite well. The warmth from the coffee makes the truffles melt to really bring out all of its flavor plus it perfectly balances the truffles’ sweetness. For the past few days I have enjoyed my truffles with coffee and have allowed their Parisian persuasion to whisk me away to the sidewalk of a bustling Parisian café. “C’est parfait!”
These truffles would be the perfect way to romance your significant other and make them feel luxurious and special. You can purchase your own box of all natural champagne truffles for $36 on Pavillon Ledoyen’s website.
Thank you to Pavillon Ledoyen for asking me to sample, it was a real treat!
